Relationship between Erosion of the Uterine Portio and Cancer of the Uterine cervix in their Cyto-histological studies

Abstract
Author performed smear diagnosis and tissue diagnosis to the 192 cases(14.07 per cent) of uterine portio among 1,365 cases of total outpatient at Department of Ob. & Gy. of Pusan National University Hospital, between Jan. 1st 1960 to Jan. 31 st 1961 and devided into 6 groups according to clinical diagnosis and following conclusions were made by clinico-cyto-histological findings.
1. A group: Erosion of uterine portio 96 cases
B group: A group with pregnancy 17 cases
C group: A group with other Ob. & Gy, cases 19 cases
D group: Doubtful cancer of uterine cervix and portio i, 13 cases
E group: Definite diagnosis of cancer of cervix and portio 33 cases
O group: Normal uterine cervix and portio 14 cases
2. In age distribution, younger cases is more belong to A.B., and older cases is more in the group of D & E.
3. In parity, more than 5 times of pregnancy revealed 52.2 per cent, primipara showed 3.5 per cent and only 1 case of primipara showed cancer positive.
4. In considering abortion, among erosion of uterine portio, more than one time of spontaneous abortion showed 21.2 per cent and artificial abortion showed 33.3 per cent.
5. In chief complaints of patient, genital bleeding is 23 per cent, leukorrhea, 35.4 per cent and the patient who was made the diagnosis of cancer complaining Lenital bleeding showed 69.7 per cent and leukorrhea, 24.2 per cent.
6. In the cytological diagnosis, among 192 cases, showed negative 136, doubtful 26 and positive 30.
7. In tissue diagnosis, showed erosio vera 10, erosio glandularis 94, abnormal epithelia 14, hyperactive epithelia 5, atypical epithelia 7, cancer 41 and others 7,
8. Frequency of detecting cancer in cytological studies, (doubtful and positive cases) among 96 cases of A group has 13 cases of cancer(13.4 per cent), in B group has none. among 19 in C group has 1(95.3 per cent) and in 0 group has 36.1 per cent.
9. In compare with cytological and histological diagnosis, agreement of accurate diagnosis between them showed 92.8 per cent, and result was obtained as noncancer patient has 4.4 per cent of false negative and cancer patient has 10 per cent of false positive.
